AboutHi, I'm Christopher Webb.
I started working with wood when I was 14, restoring old Victorian homes alongside a crew of tradesmen who had each mastered a trade: painting, drywall, carpentry, masonry and stucco. Between them, and a lot of hours spent watching This Old House and The New Yankee Workshop on VHS, I learned finish carpentry, solid wood flooring and basic woodworking. The biggest lesson from those years is one I still use every day: attention to detail.
From there my life took a long detour. I built a web hosting company from scratch, wrote software and a book (Marketing 911), and spent years in healthcare marketing. Along the way I earned MCSE, CCNA and Red Hat certifications, a finance degree from New Mexico State University, and wrote a second book, The Easy Millionaire. It was good work, but I never stopped missing the shop.
During COVID I turned my garage into a woodshop and started building furniture for fun. My first piece was an entryway table with a Shaker farmhouse base and a stained, laminated pine top, and it sold within days. Then I built a dog feeder, listed it online, and it sold too. That was the moment I realized this could be more than a hobby. Dog feeders were my first best seller, and toy boxes soon passed them. Since then I've built and shipped more than 2,000 pieces of furniture to 17 countries, as far away as Switzerland.
Today I work out of San Angelo, Texas, building furniture for The Webb Ranch and cabinetry for homeowners across West Texas. I picked cabinetry for one reason: it's hard. It takes a huge range of skills, and that keeps me learning. My favorite wood is naturally finished rustic alder, for its warmth and color.
Why “The Webb Ranch”?
The name is a reminder of a dream: someday owning a small farm with chickens and a big garden, a little removed from the world. Every piece I build is a step toward it.
